A Montessori Teacher in Belgium: The Return of Rafael

We are so proud of our former Belgian intern Raphael Vossen for completing his Montessori training and assuming the position of Elementary Teacher at Duffel Montessori School in the Belgian Province of Antwerp.

Raphael was an intern in the Evergreeen Elementary class in 2014-2015 and worked with Mrs. Hatziyannis and Mrs. Sesko.  Raphael credits his time at Evergreen for his inspiration to switch from teaching in a traditional Belgian public school to a publicly-funded Montessori School in Duffel.

Raphael was a big influence on Evergreen as well.  Not only did he observe and learn from our teachers, he assisted on a wide variety of special projects, including the construction of our library shelves.   He returned to Evergreen after a week-long trip to America which included cycling from Pittsburgh to DC on the Allegheny Passage and C&O Canal.
