May 4 Update

Dear Evergreen Community,

I'd like to take a moment to celebrate all our Evergreen musicians and artists-- as well as their awesome teachers, Ms. Garry and Ms. Fiola.  I've highlighted some of their recent video lessons (and others) below.  And don't forget to share pictures of your child's artwork on the Facebook group or email in for a SmugMug gallery.

Looking Ahead
Like you, we are eagerly looking to Maryland's health officials and political leaders to find out when we can return to school, what our summer programs will be like, and how we can plan for the 2020-2021 school year.

We've been planning for several possible scenarios to maximize the amount of time our children can spend at school while ensuring everyone's health and wellness.  I am grateful for all the support we have received from AIMS and AISGW, as well as guidance from the CDC, regarding best practices and protocols.

I am hopeful that I will have definitive answers in the next two weeks about our building's re-opening, summer plans and 2020-2021 contingencies.  Once again, thank you for your incredible patience during this anxious time.  The overwhelming support of our families has been so heartening in the midst of such uncertainty.  In time, your children will face-to-face and hand-in-hand with their Evergreen teachers as they should.

Parenting Talk on Wednesday
Just a reminder that you are invited to join acclaimed psychologists and best-selling authors Michael Thompson and Rob Evans in a parenting discussion this Wednesday evening hosted by the Parents' Council of Washington.  Their insight and wisdom will be helpful to all of us grappling with the consequences of COVID in our lives.  See you there.

All the best,
