Summer in Silver Spring

2024 Evergreen Summer in Silver Spring

Pre-Camp: June 10 to 14

Session One: June 17 to July 19

Session Two: July 22 to Aug 16

Evergreen Summer in Silver Spring offers exciting and enriching programs for children. The program features extended sessions of four or five weeks that allows children to delve deeply and fully immerse themselves in their learning. Extended time together encourages the formation of stronger connections and a sense of community, contributing to a more supportive and inclusive camp environment.

Montessori STEAM Summer Program

This program integrates science, technology, engineering, art and math extension projects into the Montessori framework to stimulate intellectual curiosity.

This summer, we are combining the methodologies of our past summer programs for the 3-6-year-old groups (previously Montessori Summer and Sprouts) into one offering of Montessori STEAM Summer. The children will engage with individual, Montessori work in the morning and group projects in the afternoon (e.g., art, cooking, science). We will also introduce some special Montessori material-making projects for the group each week.

Specialty Camp

This program allows older children (ages 6-9) to go deeper into the world of hands-on cooking, art and science to stimulate their desire to be makers, builders and tinkerers.

With a focus on creativity, teamwork, and independence, children will enjoy a range of engaging activities every day. From arts and crafts to outdoor sports and group projects, there's something for everyone. Plus, there are plenty of opportunities for free play and exploration, as well as structured activities. With special guests and in-house field trips, this summer will be amazing.

Our experienced staff creates a safe and nurturing environment where children can develop important life skills like confidence and socialization. With the chance to make new friends and participate in activities on their own, children will gain independence and build self-esteem. Evergreen Summer also provides educational benefits to continue children's learning throughout the summer months. Join us for a fun and fulfilling summer by contacting [email protected].

Montessori STEAM Summer (ages 3-6)

Description

This summer, we are combining the methodologies of our past summer programs for the 3-6-year-old groups (previously Montessori Summer and Sprouts) into one offering of Montessori STEAM Summer. The children will engage with individual, Montessori work in the morning and group projects in the afternoon (e.g., art, cooking, science). We will also introduce some special Montessori material-making projects for the group each week.

Our Montessori STEAM Summer Program integrates science, technology, engineering, art and math extension projects into the Montessori framework to stimulate intellectual curiosity. This program strengthens skills that children develop during the academic year at Evergreen and acquaints incoming students with the Montessori environment. Under the guidance of an experienced Montessori teacher, children learn by making their own personal discoveries with the Montessori materials. Concentration, motivation, independence, and love of learning are encouraged and enhanced. Students will also enjoy many camp activities like weekly water play, and in-house field trips from many entertaining and educational presenters throughout the summer.
