Welcome to the Evergreen School
Designated a Green School by Environmental Protection Agency.
Evergreen School is an independent, co-educational Montessori school for children from 18 months old through 3rd grade. Evergreen's mission is to help each individual reach his or her fullest potential and to prepare our students to be independent thinkers, lifetime learners, and responsible citizens in an ever-changing world.
Founded in 1964 as The Montessori Children's House in the District of Columbia, Evergreen is dedicated to the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, which recognizes a child's need to learn basic academic skills, observe the environment, do independent work, and cooperate in a community. Now located in Maryland, Evergreen School conveniently serves the greater Kensington/ Wheaton/ Silver Spring area as well as the surrounding suburbs and D.C.
Evergreen provides a safe, diverse, family-centered environment where differences are respected and all cultures honored. A strong academic program, which begins with the youngest children, is balanced by visual and performing arts.
